263. Set of 16 stone paint rubbings on rice paper from Chinese Buddhist temple, macabre portraits w/writings. Probably mid-Ching Dynasty. 15 Buddhist monks, each w/their own monasteries & followings, 46" x 19", in good to excellent condition, large Buddha, 67" x 34", in fair condition: minor paper tears at folds, images are pristine. Reggie Grooms started painting at an early age, and later studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy and the Academie Julian in Paris. He was an instructor of landscape painting at the Art Academy, a professor at the University of Cincinnati, and a regular lecturer at the Cincinnati Art Club.

Krohnholz was a popular German painter.

274. William Behnken, NY, b.1943, Interior with chair and bones, 1966, oil on canvas, 50" x 42", signed, dated. (500-1,000)

Behnken received his BA, MA & PhD from City College of New York (CUNY). He teaches at CUNY, the Art Students League, and the National Academy of Design. His works are found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, British Museum, Fitzwilliam Museum, New York Public Library, and Brooklyn Museum of Art, as well as in publications on printmaking and art.
