Italian mahogany expandable game table, cut corner form, fully inlaid with blossoms, leaves, scrolling and twisting vines in mixed burled and brilliantly grained woods in tan, yellow, coral, dark brown, olive green and pale pink. Underside of top is inlaid with backgammon board. Interior removeable board has inlaid checkerboard to one side, brilliant green velvet card playing surface to reverse. Third layer has roullette board that slides apart to expose roullette wheel and storage compartments. Includes round game pieces, poker chips in caddy, assorted dice and two leather clad dice cups. 30" x 30" x 30". Elegant contemporary piece in pristine condition. 1,500-2,500

Two bronzed classical draped lady statues, 58"h, each holding a torch aloft, one carrying cattails, one carrying wheat shocks, each with matching wreaths in their hair, both in dramatic wind blown gowns with fancy belts. French foundry wafer marks, wheat girl has tag reading La terre, Par lequien (sculpt), cattail girl tag reads L'eau, Par lequien (sculpt), wonderful bronze patina, bases have nice details with rocks and water, fancy belts, base diameter 14". Kentucky Impressionist Paul Sawyier began his art studies at an early age with a private tutor from Cincinnati. He studied portraiture under Thomas Noble at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. He moved to New York to study at the Art Student's League under William Merritt Chase, where he was also able to observe John Singer Sargent. He later studied with Frank Duveneck.

Hunter Wood was born on Long Island, the son of the marine painter Worden George Wood who served aboard the Clipper "Yankee" in the Spanish-American War and the great-grandson of John L. Worden who commanded the "Monitor" in its fight against the "Merrimac" in the Civil War. Wood served in the Merchant Marine, and his paintings reflect this background.

A well-listed artist associated with several avant garde movements of the early twentieth century, including Futurism and German Expressionism. He exhibited at the Societe Anonyme, and was featured in the avant garde German periodical Der Sturm.

J.J. Enwright is one of the pseudonyms of artist Hjalmar "Cappy" Amundsen. He is best known for his harbor paintings in New York and Massachusetts. He was one of the founders of the Washington Square Art Show in New York, and painted covers for Motor Boating Magazine.
